1 )Types of medical Coding
a)ICD (International Classification of Disease)
This code established by World Health Organization (WHO). This code is used to describe causes of injury, illness and death.
b)CPT (Current Procedure Terminology)
This code is published and maintained by American Medical Association (AMA). This code is used to describe medical procedures happening in physician’s office or clinic
c)HCPCS
This code is used to describe outpatient department services like chemotherapy , hospital care etc
2)Job Description
a) anlalysing several clinical statements and assign standard codes by making use of ICD,HCPCS
b) to keep eyes on particular patient record such as Doctor prescription, diagnostic tests
c) Key role as health claim specialist
3) Skill required
a)sound knowledge about anatomy, physiology
b) ability to communicate on professional level
c) ability to develop technical competency
4)Courses offered and fees
CPC (Certificate for Professional Coding)
1) Certificate course for 3-5 months
2) degree course for 2 years
Fees should be 20000-30000
And for degree fees should be 1-2 lakhs
