Perform coding and related responsibilities utilizing recognized billing office policies in a precise and timely way. Primary contact with doctors, department administrators, healthcare facility and/or scientific department administrators and their assistance personnel and billing personnel. Coordinates professional service billings for chosen scientific departments.
Primary Functions
- Accurately code inpatient and outpatient physician/non-physician specialist services through review of medical record documents and encounter kinds. Designate CPT treatment codes, ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes, HCPCS II codes and modifiers based on documents, payer requirements, government mentor doctor paperwork requirements and billing workplace policies.
- Medical Coding Specialists within Family medicine clinics just: Assemble, total, validate and register insurance details for new and current clients.
- Supply monetary therapy to clients; make needed budgeting, collection and discounting choices.
- Identify, report and solve coding and repayment issues with physicians, department administrators and other billing workplace personnel, consisting of repayment personnel.
- Identify chances to reduce rejections and improve income.
- Develop and maintain coding and billing procedures specific to that position and department.
- Supply education for doctors, department administrators and support personnel on treatment and medical diagnosis coding, medical record documents, billing processes, policies and treatments. Promote compliance with the very same.
- Perform charge entry of physician services.
- Maintain appropriate knowledge of coding, compliance, and compensation treatments through evaluation of information supplied by billing office, payer policy updates and coding handbooks.

Minimum Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum Required Experience: 2 years of related experience
Preferred Experience: 2 years working understanding of CPT and ICD-10 CM coding. Acquainted with medical insurance plan.
Accreditation: Coding certification (CPC, CPC-A, CCS-P, CCA) and/or health details management credential, RHIT, RHIA.
