Inpatient Status– If a patient is admitted on the doctor’s advise in a hospital, which requires hospitalization (more than 24 hours) are termed Inpatient Services.  It is required for care and observation once surgery is performed. The day before you’re discharged is your last inpatient day (the day of discharge doesn’t count as an inpatient day.

Outpatient Status– Healthcare services that a patient receives in a physician’s office or a hospital but which does not require hospitalization (Less than 24 hours) are termed ‘Outpatient Services.’ Means a person return to home on the same day after a medical procedure is performed.
