Full-time, Days

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Accountable for logging all requests received by CMS concerning the Recovery Audit Agreement program. Evaluations charts and prepares spreadsheet for logging particular information relating to RAC activity. Submits information for the Financing Committee for the status of this activity.
  • Accountable for coordination of outdoors auditors for the function of coding audits.
  • Accountable for the reviewing result of audits; prepares and sends appeals as proper.
  • Carries out quality audits on coding functions; audits are to consist of OIG noted DRGs, accounts without CCs. Performs random chart sampling per Coder.
  • Prepares month-to-month reports of quality evaluations of the Coding personnel for submission to the HIM Director and Coding Supervisor.
  • Develops education action strategies in partnership with the Coding Supervisor for Coders who perform listed below the level of expectation of coding accuracy.
  • Provides coding education for team member who are put on an action plan for coding enhancement. Accountable for examining of charts for tracking of quality and follow up.
  • Performs regular monthly ER charge audits. Gathers data for monthly reporting to the Income Management Committee in addition to for the AHS scorecard report. Prepares reports for review with the ER Director and ER Department Managers regarding documentation as part of the charge audit.
  • Accountable for preparing reports concerning Case Mix in particular to the reporting of CC sets. Gathers statistical reports and offers recommendation as to document improvement.
  • Offers coding of inpatient accounts as needed as well as repeating accounts
  • Serves on the New Technology Committee and supplies info relating to coding as requested by members of the NTC.
  • Is a member of the CDMP task force, New Technology Committee, and Income Management Committee.

Certifications

What You Will Need:

UNDERSTANDING AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Computer system efficiency required.
  • Registered as a Registered Health Info Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Professional (RHIT), or high school graduate with accreditation as a Licensed Coding Expert (CCS). Above understanding requires two to 4 years in an HIM certified program and or with successful completion of national accreditation test.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management with RHIA registration preferred or Associate of Science Degree in Health Infotech with RHIT registration required.
  • Five (5) years total health center experience required with RHIT.
  • Experience in CPT-4, ICD-9CM coding, OCE/NCCI edits needed.

LICENSURE, ACCREDITATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • Registered as a Registered Health Info Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or high school graduate with certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).

Task Summary:

Responsible for performing quality audits concerning coding functions for the facilities of: AdventHealth Memorial Medical Center (FHMMC), AdventHealth Oceanside (FHO), AdventHealth Deland (FHD), and AdventHealth Flagler (FHF). Recognizes people and develops academic action strategies in partnership with the Coding Supervisor in order to ensure accuracy for inpatient and outpatient coding. Assists in and coordinates the tracking of external coding audits to include RAC, Blue Cross, Humana, and other payer groups or controlled evaluation firms. Carries out statistical analysis concerning Case Mix; screens and reports findings to the Coding Supervisor and HIM Director. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan; to the guidelines and regulations of all appropriate regional, state, and federal companies; and to the standards of all accrediting bodies.
